Universal Studios Singapore (USS) Resorts World Sentosa - Definitive Ranking of Rides in terms of thrill factor

Universal Studios Singapore (USS) Resorts World Sentosa - Definitive Ranking of Rides in terms of thrill factor
In celebration of our mutual birthdays, my bestie, Cindy, and I decided to go USS!! We started this mutual celebration thing 3 years ago where we will spend 1 whole day together since our birthdays are just 3 days apart! And this year marked the 17th year we have known each other! Amazing how we have come so far together! It was also my first time visiting USS (apart from the Halloween night). Yes I know very suagu. HAHAH. Cindy on the other hand has an annual pass. So hardcore. Hhahahah.

I know that this is not exactly travel post, but I think it should be applicable for tourists coming to Singapore! So it made it to this space!

It was a Saturday and there were a lot of people! The queuing game started even before you enter the theme park; the buying of the entrance ticket.

So to kill time we tested this bluetooth remote that my friend bought from Taobao for me last year. Also featuring the new shades I got from Taobao. Hahhahah. Better do such ridiculous stuff before we become aunties and can’t do it anymore. People might throw eggs then.

After queuing for I don’t know how long, we finally got in!! But the weather that day wasn’t very kind. Then again, better sunny than rainy Singapore!

I love rides that are super exciting with sudden acceleration and steeeeep drops. But I do realised that my appetite for thrill decreased as I got older. Gone were the young and fearless days. Must be an age thing. I mean I can still take all the roller coasters, but if you ask me to go for bungee or skydiving, I think I need to think about it. HAhahah.

And instead of writing it in a chronological order, let me do it this way.

The definitive ranking of USS rides

in terms of thrill factor.

X. Treasure Hunter

Obviously this ride, along with many other rides, don’t make it to the ranking. The thrill factor for this ride is probably –1/5?! Hahhaha. And we obviously skipped this ride. LOL. Just putting it here cause I took this photo and think it looks nice.

Lots of selfiess cause don’t waste the sun.

7. TRANSFORMERS The Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle

In number 7, is the transformer ride.

As the name suggests, you got to wear 3D glasses.

And sit in a ‘car’ like this. It’s something like motion master but Instead of moving chairs, it’s a moving vehicle.

Thrill factor: 1/5
Will I take it again: Probably notttt.

6. Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure

I actually have pretty high expectation for this!! Cause I heard my friends saying how the ‘boat’ will be ‘thrown’ out. I was like SERIOUS!!! SO EXCITING!!! But it turns out to be … Disappointing… I was thinking more along the line of wild wild west in Australia-Gold Coast-Movie World. Or even like the boat ride in escape theme park last time? I think the slide for this is too short. It ended before your heart can jump out.

Thrill factor: 1.5/5
Will I take it again: I think I will if I didn’t have to queue for 1 hour.

It’s a water ride so you might get wet depending on the position when it drops. Cause the ride is circular, you won’t know your position till it drops. LOL. We were lucky cause we ended up facing the front when it dropped. And we bought poncho. Super bimbo I know but heyy, the water is not clean okayyy. And what will we do with our hair after that.

Granted they have drying pod like this for you to dry yourselves. But still… dirty water.

5. The canopy flyer

I took this ride during Halloween that time. Twice. And both times were facing the back. This time round we took and we faced the front! Super different experience!! Much more thrilling! If only the ride can be looonger.

Thrill Factor: 2/5
Will I take it again: YES!

4. Puss in boots

Universal Studios Singapore (USS) Resorts World Sentosa - Push in boots ride review

And this is a new ride! The ride will spiral up then proceed to roll down with a few drops. But because it’s a huge carriage (each carriage consists of 3 rows of 3) I think it sort of dilutes the experience.
Thrill factor: 2/5

Will I take it again: Hmmmm maybe not.

3. Enchanted Airways

This is actually quite fun! With a few drops but not tt steep. And I managed to film a video of us on the ride with my iphone. #trustinmyhands #needagopro. And the video is so entertaining cause the inertia of the ride forbid me from holding it high throughout the ride.

Thrill factor: 2.5/5
Will I take it again: YES!

2. Revenge of the Mummy

And this! Is the most exciting of all at the moment. It’s an indoor roller coaster minus the inversion. I realised that the more thrilling rides have shorter queues. Near evening time, there is literally no queue. So we went for the ride 3 times consecutively!! The reverse, acceleration and drop. HAHAHA. Super shiok! After the first time we were just posing for the camera at the drops.

Thrill factor:4/5
Will I take it again: And I did.

Speaking of the photos from the in-ride camera, they actually specially stationed a staff there to prevent people from snapping a photo of the photo. Isn’t it more cost effective to just let people snap a photo of the photo than to hire a staff?

1. Battlestar Galactica: Human vs. Cylon

And number 1 is reserved for this.

And of course I didn’t have the chance to try it yet since it has yet to reopen. Such a waste :( CAN’T WAIT TO TRY IT WHEN IT REOPENS!! Till then.

And this is the end of the definitive ranking. Moving on to photo taking.

And because it’s Saturday, there’s parade!

Ok I sounded way more excited than I was. But it’s really not too bad a show. Given the heat of Singapore, you really got to give it to the mascots and performers. We didn’t go around taking photos with mascot cause erm #lazy. hahaha.

Instead we went around doing silly things like these.

All the queuing took quite awhile and soon it was night time.

And because it was Saturday, there’s fireworks! I have a big thing for fireworks! I gave up trying to take a photo of the fireworks and decided to bask in it. I love it!

And ending off with our faces!

Getting to USS:1)Take the train (MRT) to HarbourFront Station (which is on the purple/North-East Line)
2)Walk to VivoCity and take the escalator to level 3
3)Buy the standard ticket which cost $4 both ways or use the ezlink card
4)Take the Sentosa Express to Waterfront Station.
5) Reach your destination.

Other tips:1) Buy tickets online to skip the queue to buy the tickets.
2) Water is exorbitant inside ($2.80 for a 500ml). Buy water from Watson (3 750ml for $3)
3) Poncho is also exorbitant (whooping $4 each). Buy poncho from Watson ($2 each? or less)
*There is a Watson at RWS. You should be able to see it on the way from the tram to USS.
4) Needless to say food is also expensive and not nice. If nice and expensive I can still accept like Disneyland. Just leave USS and eat at RWS. There are Din Tai Feng, Chillis, Hard Rock Cafe and even Mcdonalds. You can always re-enter the theme park.
