In order to catch our train, we woke up super early that day.
Had our breakfast at @home Minsu, and quickly took a cab down to hualien train station to catch our train to Fangliao Station!
There’s only 2 straight train from Hualien to Fangliao everyday. We decided to catch the earlier train at 8 because the next train will only be at 11 and we wanted to reach Kenting earlier! The train ride is 4 hours long!
Saying goodbye to Hualien~
Details of our ride!
There were people who actually didn’t buy tickets for seats. Good leg strength they have.
The minsu owner at @home bb told us to alight at a station along the way to buy this bento because it’s one of the nicest in Taiwan! When Taiwanese tells you it’s nice, it must be nice!
So we were very excited about it! It was a mad rush for the bento before the train rushes off. It was our first time doing such stuff and we were very scared that the train will go off before Cheryl and Chenshuang come back. But yay we succeeded!
If I’m not wrong it should be 池上火車站(cishang station), and the train will reach this station at around 10 plus. Hands down the nicest bento in Taiwan. Rmb the bento I ate at Ruifang station? This is so much nicer Yum!
The view along the way
Just an auntie eating her 3rd bento.
And soon, we were starting to see more of the seas than mountains. An indication that we were reaching Fangliao station!
After 4 hours, Fangliao Station!
And sure enough, many taxi uncles approached us to take cab, which we did. HAHAH. Although we intended to take the public transport. Anyhow, I don’t think we will ever need to take the public transport because we now have the contacts to the loveliest Kenting driver!!
He’s the driver we booked for our 2nd day in Kenting and he’s super nice! Bought pineapple, lychee, and even brought us to watch stars at midnight. Taiwanese.. are really toooo nice. Ok more of that in the next post.
The Bethlehem 垦丁伯利恒
And that, is our hotel for our stay in Kenting! The one on the second floor. We specially chose one that is facing the sea and with balcony.
Prior to going Kenting, I have absolutely no idea how Kenting is like, and where is the night market, and how far is our minsu from the night market and all the attractions. And somehow I can’t really find a lot of information on the internet.
After the trip, I realised that Kenting is actually very big. We often need a driver to bring us to different places of attractions. Some places are hidden deep inside kenting, and up the hill, like the place where you ride the atv (or piaosha as the Taiwanese calls it).
For accommodation wise, you can either choose to stay near the night market or near the beach. We chose the beach, so we had to cab to the night market.
The reception area.
The bedroom pre-invasion
The bedroom invaded.
And the bedroom overseeing the beach
We walked around vicinity for awhile before returning to the hotel to change and went off to the beach for some sea sports! And the good thing about staying near the beach is that, there will be a van to fetch you to the beach from the hotel, even though it’s just a short distance away.
And we went jet-skiing
Banana-boating and this. I don’t know what is this called, but it’s the scariest of them all. I think there’s another even scarier activity. Chenshuang and I stood behind and we were hanging on to our lives. There were many times we almost fly off it.
Don’t know why I always look spasticky.
And there were many failure shots.
Love this photo because I’m finally not the one holding the cam.
And my tumblr-ly shot!
Love the colour of dawn that day. Many people told us that it was the prettiest dawn after quite while.
And this is the perk of choosing a hotel by the beach with balcony. Capturing one of the nicest sunset I have ever seen in quite a while. The sun setting behind a mountain, against an clear sky. And this was captured at the balcony.
And thereafter we changed and went off to the night market!
And more beautiful memories of Kenting in the next post! Don’t you love Kenting as well now?
