Taiwan 8 days trip–Day4&5! ( 永和豆漿大王yonghe doujiang - 貓空 MaoKong - 西門町 XiMending – 四海豆漿 SiHai DouJiang - 台中Taichung - 逢甲夜市 Fengjia Night market)

Continuing on with our search for local breakfast, we went to 永和豆漿大王 yonghe dou jiang on Day4. Yes correct it’s the same yonghe doujiang that you can find in Singapore I think. It operates 24/7, so you don’t have to worry about waking up late! It was a cold and wet day @.@. I think it was the coldest day of all.

Verdict: Not worth travelling all the way there for the food. It’s really very mehh. HAHAHA. I think the breakfast place near our hotel is comparable if not better. But I included the address and directions if you are interested!

永和豆漿大王Address: No. 102, Section 2, Fùxīng South Rd, Daan District, Taipei City, Taiwan 106
+886 2 2703 5051
Getting there: Alight at Da-an station and walk towards the direction of technology building station. When walking there, the railway line should be on your left, and Yonghe DouJiang will be on your right. It’s located between Da-an Station and Techonolody Building station.
Operating hours: 24/7
After which we proceeded to MaoKong. I pronounce it as pores in chinese. HAHAHA. Though that’s not the pronunciation. Hard to change it once you start saying it as pores. PORES. There. You will say it as pores.

貓空 MaoKong

Pretty boring place. We spent 20minutes going up, 10-15minutes there, and 20 minutes coming down. There’s quite a few temples there though, you can visit if you are interested~ There’s also a tea appreciation restaurant I think. But it was raining so we just forget it.

貓空 MaoKong

You have to take the metro to Taipei Zoo station and walk to the gondola station to take the cable car up to Maokong. There’s 2 types of cable car cabins. One is the crystal cabin, where the floor of the cable cars are transparent, and the normal cable cars. Both cost the same, just that there are fewer crystal cabins so you would have to wait a bit longer, especially when there’s a long queue. You can use your easycard to get in! Anyway 50NT one way!

I think my hair is awesome in Taiwan. Singapore’s humidity always makes it oily and wet and limp and ugly.

Yay I instagramed this photo as well.

I want to talk about my shoes. HAHAHHA. So actually 2 years ago when Mr Gan went Taiwan for his army training, he bought the exact design of the above shoes for me. So naturally after 1-2 years of wearing (Eh not bad for a $8 shoes), it became unwearable and I threw it away. Then when we went shilin on the first night, WE FREAKING SAW THE SAME THING. HAAHAH. And Mr Gan insisted on buying it again. I kept asking him which shoes are nice and he chose this. According to him this is called, "Mr Gan’s taste is timeless.”

And me. Excluded all the short and fat photos of me.
Like I mentioned in my previous post, we actually went back to tamsui to take photos. COLD DAY. And that was the day we bought bread and eat because we were rushing and hungry. HAHAHA. There. bread mystery resolved. After Tamsui, we went to Ximending to walk around. After trying to find a place to have our dinner, we just settled for a random cafe.

Ms Jane. I was damn tired by then. Damn cold and tired and hungry. @.@
So after dinner we walked Ximending, get conned by stupid student, and go back hotel. We concluded that the reason we managed to get conned is because we lower our guard just cause most of the Taiwanese are nice. Just ignore people who approach you on the street! Treat them like credit card promoter in Singapore. LOL. You don’t bother with them, do you?

Day5
四海豆漿 Si Hai Dou Jiang

Actually I went there on day2 but we returned again on day5. We ordered more this time round because our chinese improved. HAHAHAHA. ok kidding. Just that we are more aware of how to order stuff in Taiwan. Here’s what we ate on the fifth day!

Verdict: It’s near our hotel so why not? AHAHAH. I think it’s nicer than yonghe seriously.
After breakfast we explored the area around Taipei 101 because it was still early to take the train down to Taizhong. We were supposed to return to Jiufen that day but we were so tired that we decided to sleep in instead. GOOD CHOICE. HAHAHA.

That’s the random bread I bought from 7 eleven
Upon reaching Taichung High Speed Rail Station, we took a free shuttle bus to Feng Jia University, because that’s where our Minsu is! Anyway, you should just take the cab. HAHAHA. We were very tempted to cab. But we think that we should at least try the shuttle bus. hahahaha
Bus to Fengjia Night Market 逢甲夜市

Mr Gan on the bus. We took the back seat because of our luggage. Taiwanese so nice :’) The uncle told me to not rush because I was carrying the luggage. Wah lao I think in Singapore they will Tsk me lo.
After settling into our minsu, we went to explore the biggest yeshi in Taiwan! FengJia YeShi! Our minsu is just around FengJia Yeshi! SONG!

We stayed at tomato rooms as recommended by my cousin! Really no regrets! It’s very cheap at SGD60 per night or something, the security is very good, you have to scan card to get in plus there’s a security guard stationed outside 24/7, and finally decent rooms. (You know how much I dislike the cityinn rooms anot)

This is where the minsu is!

The room! Ah so nice. AND non carpeted flooring. I dislike carpeted flooring also. HAHAHA. Ok I damn fussy.
It’s always fully booked. So you got to booked in advanced!

Feng Jia Ye Shi for you!
逢甲夜市 Fengjia Night market

NICE. OISHI.
If you are going Fengjia yeshi, don’t bother buying stuff from Taipei! It’s really cheaper in Taichung!! And there are more varieties also! The food in Taichung is somewhat different than Taipei. Alot of food!!! One of the most popular food is the Da Chang Bao Xiao Chang. Small sausage wrapped in big sausage. HAHAH. We didn’t try cause we don’t like taiwanese sausages. No point ma… If you are having that, don’t buy it from the start, if not you won’t have appetite for any more food. I will suggest 2 nights to cover fengjia comfortably!
We bought a lot from Fengjia. 3 bags for me and 1 bag for Mr Gan. The bags cannot be found in Taipei. I wonder why. And I bought a red bag pack to replace my previous bag pack I got from GaoXiong last time!! Good canvas material! Both of us bought canvas material bags cause it’s nicer. I also got a bag for my mum! Slightly expensive compared to all the yeshi price, but good material! In line with my resolution to spend money wisely!

Ok next post will be on XinShe! All the nice photos coming up! Will get it up before CNY!!

  1. Hi Jane,

  2. Hi SluRpee!

Thanks for reading! You can drop them a email at smallge@kimo.com! Do take note that they do not release the rooms early! Like maybe earliest is 1 month before the date, and they require full PayPal payment beforehand now!

Hope it helps! Enjoy your trip! :)

  3. Thank you Jane.

I actually planned to go these few places in TaiChung but not sure if it is too rush to visit the 4 places in one day. I intend to hire a driver for the whole day.

Appreciate if you can advise based on your Day 6 trip in TaiChung.

    Thanks.

  4. Hi SluRpee,

I think it won't be too rush if you hire a cab from 9am-5pm.

We only began our journey at 12pm that's why we only covered 3 places. :)

I think you can ask your cab driver for recommendations as well and maybe you might even be able to cover 5 places.

  5. Hi Jane,

I read you blog, and it quite useful. :)

I would like to ask you about the hiring of the taxis at Taichung to go to different place, how do u go about that? and what are the normal rates?
    I'm travelling a family of 8.

    Thanks

    Avonlea.

  6. Hi Avonlea,

I'm not too sure about the rate for family of 8 cause taiwan's taxi's rate is dependent on the number of people as well.

As for the hiring of taxi, you can either go through your hotel/minsu and ask them to arrange for you, or you can try tripadvisor forum, they tend to recommend some driver.

Then you can email the driver and arrange the other details!

Hope this help! Feel free to ask me if there's anything!

    Best regards,
    Jane
