Taiwan 8 days trip - Day3! ( 阜杭豆漿Fuhang DouJiang - 新北投xin bei tou - 淡水Tamshui )

淡水Tamshui

You can read my Day 1 post here and Day 2 post here!

And on Day 3 of our Taiwan trip, we specially made our way to the famous 阜杭豆漿 Fuhang DouJiang for breakfast, before proceeding to 新北投 (xin bei tou) for hot spring, and finally to 淡水 (danshui)  /Tamshui!

阜杭豆漿 Fu Hang Dou Jiang

Prior to our Taiwan Trip, we did quite a bit of research on Taiwanese breakfast and we found quite a few places, 阜杭豆漿Fuhang DouJiang is one of them. We read on blogs saying that the queue is always very long and we should try to go early like at 9am so that we won’t have to queue that long. So we tried our best and we made it there at 10.30am. HAHAHHA. Seems like we didn’t try right! But we did okay! Anyway the queue wasn’t that long on a Tuesday and we waited for approximately 10 minutes only. SEE! Don’t have to go at 9am.

阜杭豆漿Fuhang DouJiang

The menu. As you can see it’s mainly doujiang and ShaoBing. They do not sell carrot cake or xiaolongbao there. But the Shao Bing is the best! Best of all the bing I ate in Taipei.

阜杭豆漿Fuhang DouJiang

Fortunately for us, we read on blogs saying that it’s closed on Monday! So no futile trip made! A hungry man is an angry man. A hungry woman is a naggy woman. A hungry and kenna nagged man is a super angry man.

 The queue

HAHHA sorry I just have to do this DSLR and iphone comparison.
The interior of the place is something like a foodcourt with only 1 stall. HAHAHA. Ok there’s other stalls selling other stuff, but no one was eating them. And there are many seats because a lot of people ordered takeaway, so you can just order your food first then find a seat!

The doujiang and the shao bing

The shao bing!! This is the thick shao bing with youtiao and egg. DAMN NICE OMG. MUST MUST MUST TRY!
We also ordered the skinny shao bing and eggs to eat. All are nice, but the thick shao bing is superb!

After which we went to explore the metro mall located between Taipei Main Station and Zhong Shang Station. Seriously it’s a really long mall. BUT. Nothing much to buy. I don’t know whether it’s the season or what, but there’s really nothing fascinating. I think if you have time you can go there walk walk, if not you can give it a miss.

So after walking we were hungry again and we grabbed some food.

Any jiapalang food store in Taiwan will also be not bad. LOL

新北投 Xin Bei Tou

The decorations at Beitou Station. You will need to change to another train at Beitou Station to get to Xin beitou. Just like tanah merah or jurong east.
新北投xin bei tou

The train. Taiwan trains are always so nice.

Not sure whether you can see it. There’s a wooden basin like thing in the top right of the photo! So cool right! All the cabins have different themes!
After alighting we walked to the resort. Surprised smile Please don’t be like us. AHHAHAHA. I think the resorts offer shuttle bus services from xinbeitou and beitou stations.  PLEASE TAKE IT. We walked super long. Anyway we walked a lot for our trip such that at the end of the day our back and calves will be damn suan. So please cab or take shuttle bus! HAHHAHA. But then if we didn’t walk we would miss out a lot by not walking. Such a dilemma.

A rather nice hotel/resort we saw on our way there.
Anyway they have public hotsprings there as well. But ewwwwww. Who want to go public hotspring. There’s lots of ______ there as well. So nono. Rather pay alot more than pao myself with jiapalang people. With the exception of Japan! I went for Japan’s public hotsprings before. Naked kind hee hee *shy* but it’s really very nice! and it’s not so populated and there’s not much _______ there. So yeah!
新北投xin bei tou

And we reached city spring resort! Rather expensive at 1000NT per pax for 1 hour. But quite nice! and it’s private room! They provide towel, bathing shampoo, soap, facial towel, cotton bud, slipper, hair dryer, basically things you will need luh! so no need to bring towel! I do have a photo of the hot spring room but Mr Gan is inside and I think he will kill me if I post it. AHHAHAHAH. Anyway there are many other resorts that offer hot spring.

淡水 Tamshui

By the time we reached Tamshui it was already very late. Bad timing again! HAHAHA. So we got off at Tamshui station and proceeded straight to the old street to walk first.

淡水老街 Tamshui Old Street

It was rather cold that day. 14 degrees and raining. So there isn’t much people outside. Mr Gan bought a cup for almond drink and I forbid him from talking to me while drinking it. I HATE ALMOND.

淡水老街Tamshui Old Street

It was rather peaceful to take a stroll there. But rather scary at some alleys cause it’s so dark.

淡水老街Tamshui Old Street

Fried mushroom!! but not nice. Don’t buy from there!

淡水老街Tamshui Old Street Starbucks

So out of nowhere there’s a Starbucks next to the sea. I think if I stay in Taipei, this would probably be one of my favourite hangout spot. It’s so nice! And most importantly there’s not a lot of people. If not for us being hungry we would have gone inside to chill.

淡水老街Tamshui Old Street

Met Jinghui at the old street!! Taipei is so small. HAHAHAH. You don’t see me meeting her at NTU or something right?

淡水老街 Ah Gei (阿給) Tamshui Old Street

And anyhow, we actually made our way to the authentic ah gei. Super hungry us quicky grabbed a seat and order our dinner!

Forgot what is this. None of us like it. HAHAHAH
Anyway, because of our miscalculation in time, we couldn’t make it to 渔人码头 (Yu Ren Ma Tou)/ fisherman’s wharf, which is where the 情人橋 (Qing Ren Qiao)/ Lover Bridge is. So we actually went back there the next day. HAHAHAA. DON’T BE LIKE US! Calculate your time properly!! But anyway, since I’m already writing my post on Tamshui, I don’t want to split it up into 2. Very messy!

渔人码头 Fisherman’s Wharf/ 情人橋 Lover Bridge

To get there, you can either 1) Take a cab or 2) Take a bus, red line bus 26, from Tamshui Station. Dont walk omg! You walk until next day also won’t, erm, ok maybe will reach. But don’t walk! We didn’t walk so you shouldn’t pull such stunt! HAHAHA. And it was super freezing that day. OMG. I was battling the wind and rain throughout. The wind is like constantly trying to consume my new pathetic brolly!! I kept laughing at others’ flipped umbrella. IT WAS SO HILARIOUS! HAHAHAHHA. Ok so bad.
渔人码头 Fisherman’s Wharf/ 情人橋 Lover Bridge 淡水Tamshui

We asked some Singaporean to take a photo for us. Nice leh!

And the VOOM! not so successful one. Just showing you that the wind is really strong!!
And oie mr gan where’s the one I too of you!!! last warning ah! you exclude all!!

And this photo is the outcome of many failure shots and battling the rain and wind and wiping the lens, locating the correct position. Not too bad right!
